Mrs. Slater was born in Seneca Co., on December 14, 1918 to the now deceased Herbert and Lillian (Hildebrandt) Growel. She graduated from Thompson High School in 1936 and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde.
On January 1, 1943, she married Harry J. Slater and her preceded her in death on November 11, 1997.
She is survived by two daughters, Dale L. (Donald) Edwards, Fremont and Lee L. (Thomas) Slack, Memphis, Tennessee. Eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.
Her brother, Hillis R. Growel, died in 1969.
