Carl A. Riegel, 92, of Clyde died at The Willows on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Mr. Riegel was born in rural Bellevue, Ohio on November 18, 1916 to the late John and Bernice (Gemberlie) Riegel. He graduated from York High School in 1935; received his degree from Heidelberg College and his Masters from University of Michigan. He taught in the Clyde Schools for thirty three years; worked at Doebel’s Flowers for twenty two years and the Fremont News Messenger for twenty two years. Carl was a WWII Army veteran; a member of the First Missionary Church; Clyde a member of Retired Teachers of Sandusky County and the Ohio State Teacher’s Association. He was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Bernadine (Clapp) Riegel, whom he married on June 7, 1946; three daughters, Margaret Wagner (Paul), Indianapolis; Diana Wagner (Samuel) Atlanta; and Renee Fitch (Gene), Clyde; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings; Paul (Doris) Riegel, Toledo; Evelyn (John) Hoover, Upper Sandusky; Thelma Girton, Dayton; Arlene Johnson, Wilmore KY. One sister-in-law, Donna Riegel survives as well. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin Riegel and Floyd Riegel | |
