| Bettie J. Meyers, 90, of Bellevue, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at home.
She was born in Lorain, Ohio, March 19, 1919, the daughter of Herman A. and Janie Short Bruell. She married Carlton W. "Mike" Meyers on February 7, 1948 in Bellevue. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1995. A graduate of Bellevue High School in 1937, she served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years during WWII. She had been employed as a clerk for Nickel Plate and N&W Railroads and retired in 1981. She and her husband were owners of Meyers Recreation bowling lanes from 1957 to 1965. Bettie was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Katherine Lehman Circle, Althea Chapter Eastern Star, Friends of Bellevue Library, American Legion Post #46, and a lifetime member of M.R. & NKP RR Museum. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Holly and their children, Callie and Charlie, Pittsburgh, PA; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Kathy and their children, Jeremy and Jenni, and Jessica, Sandusky; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Mel Kirk, and their children, Michael and Stephanie, Matthew, and Malinda, Wooster, OH; and one nephew, Scott Billings. She was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Zehner and her nephew, John Billings. | |
