Joe R. Perry

Joe R. Perry, 67, of Vickery, Ohio, died at The Willows on Thursday, January 18, 2018.


Joe was born in Fremont on March 18, 1950 to the now deceased Robert W. and Jane (Wright) Perry. He attended Riley School through the eighth grade, graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1968 and attended The Ohio State University.


Mr. Perry was a member of the Farm Bureau; The Ohio Pygmy Goat Association and The National Pygmy Goat Association. He served on the Riley Township Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a past chairman of the Sandusky River Water Shed Collation from 2002-2014.He was also a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Society and the Ohio Assoc. of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Employees, where he served as Area Director and President.


Joe begin working for the Soil Water Conservation District of Sandusky County in 1989, retiring in 2012. He farmed with his brother, Gene Perry and the two of them owned and operated Perry Rentals. Joe owned Pappa Perry's Pygmy Farm.


Mr. Perry was a proud friend of thirty years to Bill W.


On May 28, 1990, he married the former Karen Bliss. She survives. Also surviving are children, Justin (Darcy) Perry of Blacklick, Ohio; Andrea "AJ" Perry of Worthington, Ohio; Tony (Shawnna) Roob of Lima, Ohio and Lea-Ann Wilson of Fremont. Five grandchildren, Olivia, Drew, Alexis, Abigail and Madison, as well as three sisters, Parmelia (Tom) Boyer of Lindsey; Mary Jane (John) Gibson, of Port Clinton and Beth Perry of Pasco, Washington survive as well. His dog, Ketch will miss him too. His uncle Rod (MaryAnn) Perry survives in Vickery.


Joe was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dion Wilson and brother, Gene Perry.


Visitation will be on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 3-8:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10:30 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at the funeral home with Pastor Candace Seaman officiating, Burial will be at Parkhurst Cemetery.


Memorials may be made to Pelotonia, where 100 % of the proceeds benefit cancer research at the OSU James Hospital, where he received excellent care. Peltonia: 315 W. Nationwide Blvd Columbus, Ohio 43215 in Joe's name. OR to Sandusky County 4-H,where he was actively involved since the age of 8.
