John E. Gressman, Jr. 90, formerly of Clyde, died at the Bellevue Care Center on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

John was born in RiceTownship, Clyde, Ohio on June 2, 1927 to John, Sr. and Clara (Meyer) Gressman. He was in the 1945 graduating class at Fremont Ross, but was unable to attend the graduation ceremony due to enlisting into the United States Navy during WWII.

Mr. Gressman retired after 32 years from the Whirlpool Corp in Clyde in 1984. He was a member of the Clyde Eagles and in 2015 admitted to the Fremont Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

On November 1, 1948, he married Maxine Fox, she preceded him in death on August 22, 1979.

He is also preceded in death by his companion of thirty years, Marge King.

Surviving are two sons, John (Catherine) Gressman of Bellevue and Mark (Luann) Gressman of Clyde. Eight grandchildren, Cheri, Scott, Sara, Kevin, Max, Jennifer, David, and Lindsay. Marge's daughter, Terrye (Ty) Koble of Fremont along with their children, Derek and Marlie. Seventeen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter also survive.

Two sons, Jeff and Max Gressman, preceded him in death, as well as his siblings, Lucille Stansberry; Norm Gressman; Don Gressman and Janet Gallo. Marge's granddaughter, Dian Koble is also deceased.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 5-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, with military graveside by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or Heartland Hospice.
