Rodney Perry Obituary

Rodney M. Perry, 86, of Vickery, died at The Willows in Bellevue on Monday, June 3, 2019.

Rod was born on December 20,, 1932 in Clyde, youngest child of Roy and Clara Iona (Walden) Perry.

Mr. Perry was a graduate of Townsend High School and spent a short time at Purdue University. He was an active 4-H club member and advisor. Also he had participated in Townsend FFA and Grange.

Rod was a charter member of the Townsend Rurtian Club, having served as President, Treasurer and secretary, as well as Past Zone Governor. For 4 years, he was the District Treasurer of Ruritan. He was a member of the Townsend Twp. Vol. Fire Dept., serving as it's treasurer for 23 years.

Rod enjoyed membership at the Rockwell Trout Club, Fremont Elks, Eagles and Moose Clubs, as well as the Demars Hunt Club.

Mr. Perry retired as General Manager of the Chemical Division of Chemi Trol Chemical Co. in 1995. While with Chemi-Trol, he was a member of the National Roadside Vegetation Assoc. and American Traffic and Safety Assoc.

Rod served in the US Army with the second infantry division stationed in Alaska and the 148th infantry of the Ohio National Guard.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fremont.

"Uncle Rod", (the name he was often referred by his friends), enjoyed his lawn and garden, traveling to visit family and helping Mary Ann.

Rod is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Ann (Pence); his children, Holly (James) Vincent of Henderson, Kentucky; Steve (Carol) Perry of Powder Springs, Georgia; Eric (Jennifer) Perry and Chad (Melissa) Perry all of Sylvania, Ohio. Step children; David (Patricia) Woessner of Peru, Indiana; Amy (Joe) Miller of Vickery and Wendy (Brian) Nitschke of Sandusky, along with 22 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren,  sister-in-law, Eilene Perry and nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Zimmerman Perry in 1969; his parents, sisters, Molly (John) Keith; Nancy (Edward) Drown and Linda Perry and brothers, Robert (Jane) Perry; Jim (Margaret) Perry; Tom Perry and Howard Perry.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 4-8:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:00 am at The First Presbyterian Church, 120 S. Park Ave., Fremont, Ohio with Pastor Julie Kling officiating. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery with military honors provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the Townsend Ruritan Club or the Townsend Twp. Vol. Fire Dept.
