Vera L. Colvin, 100, of Clyde, died at the Commons of Providence, Sandusky, Ohio on Monday, November 6, 2017.
Mrs. Colvin was born in Vickery, Ohio on December 5, 1916 to the now deceased Fred and Effie Mae (Warner) Colvin. She was a life-long area resident, graduating from Townsend High School in 1934, attending Bowling Green University in until 1936 and then graduating with her Bachelor of Science in 1962.
Mrs. Colvin taught for the Margaretta Local School system, "mostly third grade". She retired in 1980.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde and the Sandusky County Retired Teachers Association. Formerly she was a member of the United Methodist Women,Clyde Eagles and Kingsway Dance Club.
On March 4, 1937, she married Harry Merlin Colvin. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1988.
Survivors include four children, Merlin "JR" (Judy) Colvin of Lindsey, Ohio; Peggy Jean Burmeister of Florida; James (Raelene) of Castalia and Judith Coon of Clyde. Thirteen grandchildren; Ronald Cullop, Shawn Colvin; Phillip Gressman; Joshua Colvin; Daniel Colvin; Donald Burmeister; Scott Koonce; James Colvin; Jeremy Colvin; Jason Colvin; Brenda Colvin; Marlene Ritzman and Constance Hosang. Also numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren survive. Her sister, Beatrice Jones survives in Detroit, Michigan.
Mrs. Colvin's exact sentiment was: " I love my family. They are my pride and joy."
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Rowe.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, corner of Race and Maple Streets, Clyde.
Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.
