William Weber, 86, died March 20, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born Febuary 25, 1931 and was a 1949 graduate of Thompson School. He was preceded in death by his parents, August Weber and Muriel (Longshield) Weber; his sister, Verena (Weber) Shaarda, and a brother in infancy.
He married Martha Smith October 5, 1952 at the 1st Christian Church in Tiffin, Oh.
He was a lifelong resident of Seneca County and never wanted to leave the family farm. He was a farmer all his life. He also worked for Zehner’s Packing Company in Bellevue for 20 years, and the National Machinery in Tiffin for 23 years as a machinist and assembler.
William was a quiet man but had many talents and passions. He was an expert woodworker, an accomplished musician, playing the accordion, the organ, and was a member of the bell choir at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Bellevue for many years. He and Martha loved to travel in their retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha; his son Mark, who lives on the family farm; his daughter and son in law, Cindy and Kevin Riley, of Norwalk; as well as his three grandchildren, Caleb Riley of Norwalk, Hannah ( Andrew) Westpahl of Sitka, Alaska and Joshua Riley of Norwalk. He also enjoyed meeting his great grandchild, Theophilus Westphal.
Calling hours will be 5-7 pm Thursday, March 23, 2017 and on the 24th at 12-1pm at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia Street (Rt. 269 N), Bellevue, Ohio 44811. The service will follow at 1:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.
