Florencio "Flo" Castro Lopez

Florencio Castro Lopez, lovingly known as Flo. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 20th, 2024. He was born June 2nd, 1941 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Rosalio and Jacinta (Castro) Lopez. He attended Clyde schools and was in the Army before transitioning to the National Guard. Flo married Clara Belle Craig on July 14th, 1978 and she proceeded him in death July 25th, 2003.

Flo worked for Myers construction for many years before transitioning to work for the City of Clyde where he ultimately retired. He was a volunteer for Disabled American Veterans Auxillary chapter 68 and enjoyed volunteering at the Ann Arbor VA hospital with Anna. Flo often thought he was the funniest person in the room often making jokes to get people to laugh. He especially loved making his grandchildren laugh on special occasions from gifting cards with coins taped to it to equate to $5, gifting actual fruit for a holiday because he was jokingly told that was what they wanted, a miniature car for a 16th birthday to say he bought their first, or his most notable 10 trips to the car on Christmas morning's saying he's not done bringing in present after present each wrapped in news paper.

Surving are his son Antonio (Jessica) Lopez and four grandchildren Lexus, Makai, Zavier, and Bentley all of Fremont. Brother Junior (Mary) Lopez, sister Margaret Ross both of Clyde. Sister Maria (Danny) Garza of Fremont. Brother in law Juan Alafita of Clyde. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Clara Belle, Flo is proceeded in death by his parents; partner of 20 years Anna Lockwood; a brother Rudy Lopez; three sisters Chona Alafita Lena Lopez, and Modesta Rodriguez; an infant sister; and nephew Matthew Ross.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 25th, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 at the Mitchel-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S Main St, Clyde. The funeral will mass will be on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Church in Clyde. Burial will be at the Parish cemetery.
