We are sad to announce the passing of Karen Eileen Harris on April 12, 2024, age 77, of Clyde, OH after a battle with lung cancer.
She was born to Fred and Ruth (Kahl) Daniels on September 8, 1946 in Lodi, OH. She was the 2 nd of five children. She is survived by her siblings Janet McCall (Fran) of Westfield Center, Bob Daniels (Kathryn) of Pennsylvania, Katherine Daniels of Strongsville and Linda Slezak (Mark) of Lodi.
Karen married John Charles Harris on August 23, 1975. She became a step-mother to Julie Harris-Fain (Darren) of Prattville, AL and Katherine Harris of Columbia, SC. She had two more daughters Michelle Nichols-Dupre (Chase) of Columbia, SC and Sherri Ross (Jarod) of Delaware, OH. She cherished being a grandmother to Julie’s daughter Elizabeth Christiansen (Cameron) and Sherri’s twin boys, Max and Ollie.
In 1964, Karen graduated from Cloverleaf High School. She began her career at Westfield Insurance as a payroll manager. After moving to South Carolina in 1984, Karen focused her time on being a homemaker and teaching painting lessons. She organized a large craft show with several other artists annually. The family moved to Clyde, OH in 1995 where she worked at Doebel’s Flowers for nearly twenty years.
Throughout her life, Karen was an active volunteer and community leader. She served as PTO president and Volunteer Coordinator at her daughters’ schools. She was a member of the neighborhood Homeowner’s Association and Garden Club. She was a member of Clyde Career Women and Christian Women’s Fellowship. Karen was an active member of Clyde Christian Church where she served on several committees, as an elder and board member.
Karen was dearly loved by her family, friends and community. Her loss is profound and she will be forever missed by those who were lucky enough to know her.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 1:00pm until time of Memorial Service at 3:00pm at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main Street, Clyde. Rev. Charles Butcher will officiate.
