Born to the late Steve and Edna Williams, Alice S. Burns, 92, was called home on Monday morning, June 18th, while living at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Webster, NY.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert, daughter Barbara, son Steve, brothers George and Eugene, mother-in-law Margaret.   Alice is survived by one sister, Ethel Williams, her children; Robert Jr. (Deborah), Debra Parts (Peter), John (Angella), Suzanne Mantuano (John), grandchildren; Ashley Phagan (Kris), Matthew Burns (Emily), Joshua Burns, granddog Tucker, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was a special aunt to several adoring nieces and nephews.  After graduating from James Ford Rhodes High School in Cleveland, she studied fashion design at Ohio University and completed her degree at the Elizabeth Kardos Fashion Institute in Cleveland.  She became an excellent seamstress, always busy doing alterations or creating new clothes including both of her daughters’ wedding dresses.  Being a mother and grandmother or babysitting were by far her favorite ways to spend time.  She was also extremely active in the First United Methodist Church of Bellevue including serving as treasurer for many years, working with the women’s auxiliary and making countless delicious apple dumplings for election day sales.  She enjoyed being involved in the Eagles, Elks, VFW and her beloved 3rd Thursday of the month club.  As an avid sports fan, she made many friends playing golf, bowling and dart ball.  BHS sports along with the Cleveland Indians and Browns had no truer fan.  Alice was a beautiful person both inside and out and will be missed by her family and many friends.  Services to celebrate her time on earth will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 901 Northwest St., Bellevue, OH 44811 at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 23, 2018 with burial at the Bellevue Cemetery immediately following.  Visitation hours, also at FUMC in the Narthex, will be Friday, June 22, from 4 to 7 PM, and again on Saturday, June 23, from 9 to 10 AM with service immediately following.  The family would like to thank the staffs of Orchard Grove, Bellevue Care Center, The Willows and The Maplewood for their care and kindness during her journey.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made in memory of Alice Burns to either the First United Methodist Church GLOW program , which is an after school program held at Bellevue Elementary and run by church members, 901 Northwest St., Bellevue, OH 44811,  or to the Bloch Alumni and Advancement Center, c/o Flaum Eye Institute – Macular Degeneration Research, 300 East River Road Box 278996 Rochester NY 14627 to support either her love of children or help find a cure for macular degeneration caused blindness that so drastically reduces quality of life.  Arrangements coordinated by Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, Inc., Webster, NY, and Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue, OH.
