Ardyce D. Garman, 93, formerly of Bellevue, recently of Sandusky, died Monday, March 25, 2019 at her home.
She was born October 23, 1925 in Detroit to Benjamin & Ruth (Deckerhoff) Byers. She graduated first from Berlin Heights High School in 1943, and then Magna Cum Laude from Bowling Green State University. Mrs. Garman taught Math & English in Bellevue for 30 years. She was a member of Castalia Congregational Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Phi Beta Kappa Society of Castalia. Always active, Mrs. Garman enjoyed sewing, watercolor painting, reading, and stained glass. She also taught basket making and line dancing. She snow skied in many of the states throughout the United States.
On October 30, 1943 she married Louis M. Garman and he survives in Sandusky. Also surviving are their sons: Gerrold “Jerry” (Julia) Garman of Bellevue and Gregory (Maryann) Garman of Laramie, Wyoming; grandchildren: Jill Garman Neiger, James Garman, Joshua Garman, Jason Garman, Candace Garman; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garman was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffery Garman and her sisters: Joyce Antolick and Lois Zimmerman.
A memorial service will be 11:00am Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Castalia Congregational United Church of Christ, 205 Main St., Castalia, Ohiowith Rev. John Paputza officiating. Burial will be in Omar Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Ardyce Garman Scholarship Fund at Bellevue High School.
