Charles M. Hansen, 89, of Clyde, died at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, March 31, 2018 after a brief illness.
Charles was born at home in Bellevue,, Ohio on March 11, 1929 to Walter J. and Mabel (Bordner) Hansen. He was a member of the 1947 graduating class at the former Thompson High School.
He was a life-long carpenter. He enjoyed gardening and working with his hands. Charles was a member of the Harvest Temple Baptist , Clyde. He served in the United States Army.
On August 27, 1954, he married Lila Jeanette Clapp. She survives. Also surviving are five children; Virginia (Gerald) Nussbaum of Galean, Ohio; Gerald Hansen of Englewood,Colorado; Janice Newton of Livonia, Michigan; Joyce (Tim) Taylor of Clyde and David (Jennifer) Hansen of Blacklick, Ohio. Fourteen grandchildren, Rebekah, Naomi, Andrew Nussbaum; Tyler, Trevor, Jeremy, Justin and Ryan Hansen; Jordan and Jessica Newton; Benjamin Taylor and Kristy Taylor Pocock; Madeline and Lauren Hansen; along with two great grandchildren Victoria Nelson and Violet Cress survive as well. Six sisters, Pauline Joseph of Mahopac, NY; Iola Debolt of Galion; Marjorie Hansen of Bellevue; Marilyn (Frank) McLain of St. Mary's, Ohio; Carolyn Thiede of Columbus and Evelyn Gilbert of Milan and one brother, Howard (Mary Ellen) Hansen are surviving, too.
Mr. Hansen was preceded in death by his parents, a great-granddaughter, Lily Avelon Taylor and two brothers, Cecil Hansen and Arthur Hansen.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 4-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Harvest Temple South Main St., Clyde, Ohio with the Rev. Allen Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery with military rites provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
