Charles Wolfe, 93, of Clyde, died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Clyde Gardens.
He was born November 19, 1925 in Sandusky to Charles & Dessie (Baker) Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe graduated from Lakeside High School, then served our country in the US Navy during WWII. After the war, he graduated from the University of Michigan, earning his degree in History. Mr. Wolfe had worked at Pickett's Nursery, then later for Union Bank, Croghan Bank, and Clyde Savings Bank.
Mr. Wolfe was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clyde, where he had served on the Parish Council. His love for knowledge led him to many years of serving as a Trustee for the Clyde Public Library Board. He was also a member of the American Numismatic Association, Ohio Nurserymen's Association, Clyde Exchange Club, VFW and American Legion.
On June 19, 1948 he married Alice G. (Pickett) and she survives in Clyde. Also surviving are their children: Gail (Scott) Hemsoth of Cottage Grove, Oregon and Arthur (Charlotte) Wolfe of St. Augustine, Florida; son-in-law, David Wallingford of Bellevue; grandchildren: Martin (Rachel) Hemsoth, Kate Hemsoth, David (Yanett) Wallingford; Ben (Kazi) Wallingford; Emily Wallingford; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Mary Wallingford.
Visitation will be 4-6:30pm Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 218 S. Main St, Clyde. His funeral service will be 10:30am Saturday, July 20 at the First United Methodist Church, 510 W. Maple St, Clyde with Rev. Sheryl Seitz officiating. Burial will follow in Wales Corners Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Clyde VFW & American Legion.
Memorials may be given to the Clyde Public Library or First United Methodist Church in Clyde.
