Darl Eugene Noftz, 88, of Clyde, died at Fremont Promedica Hospital on Sunday, December 31, 2017.

Darl was born in Fremont on June 22, 1929 to Clarence and Leona (Sparks) Noftz. He attended Clyde Schools.

Mr. Noftz was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Clyde; the Knights of Columbus; Clyde Moose and the Clyde VFW where he volunteered on the Honor Guard for many years.

For many years, Darl owned and operated the former Sohio and Mobile stations in Clyde.

On September 3, 1929 he married Marcella Meyer. She survives, as do four of their children; Paula Albright, Clyde; Ken (Barb) Noftz, Marblehead; Janet (Jack) Noftz Myers, Fremont; and Jennifer (Perry) Hill of Clyde. Nine grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren also survive. Two brothers, Jerry (Janet) Noftz of Sandusky and Richard Noftz of Clyde also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughter, Gail Louise Wilfong in 1987 and a still born daughter Ruth Ann Noftz. Three brothers, Don, Clinton and Robert Noftz are also deceased.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 3-6:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be at 6:00 pm at the funeral home with Sister Regina Fisher officiating. Burial with military honors will be on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at McPherson Cemetery.
