Doris Ellen (Starkey) Rogers, 91, of Clyde, died at Independence Village, Avon Lake, on Thursday, March 29, 2018 after failing health.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Clyde on May 12, 1926 to Clarence and Harriet (Riedel) Starkey. She was a 1946 graduate of Clyde High School.
In her early years, she worked as a secretary at the former Clyde Porcelain Steel.
On October 19, 1947, she married Ray E. Rogers, beginning her role as a wonderful homemaker and mother for the rest of her life. They lived in Clyde until March 1985, when they moved to Port Clinton, Ohio.
Ray preceded her in death on September 25, 2014.
Four children, Thomas (Michele) Rogers of Clyde, Beverly (Robert) Nobles of Avon Lake, Russell (Terri) Rogers of Clyde and Randall (Lisa) Rogers of Port Clinton, survive along with nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Her parents and one sister, Luella "Tootie" Dirnberg is deceased.
Mrs. Rogers was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, a current member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Past Presidents Parley of the American Legion Auxiliary, as well as a life member of Nugent's Canal Yacht Club Auxiliary.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 4-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde with Rev. James Lehman officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Port Clinton or Crossroads Hospice, Cleveland.
