Eugene A, Schneider

Eugene A. Schneider, 92 of Bellevue, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the Willows at Bellevue.

 

He was born March 15, 1927 in Bellevue to Louis Sr. and Mary (Wurm) Schneider.

 

Eugene graduated from Thompson High School in 1945 and was drafted into the US Army, serving from 1945-1947.  He owned Gene's Sunoco in Norwalk, Ohio; drove truck for Fanny Farmer Candy; and retired from Signal Delivery.

 

Gene was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue Eagles, Clyde VFW, Bellevue American Legion, Clyde K of C, Four County Young at Heart, and the Teamsters Local 20.  He enjoyed camping and traveling, especially to St. Vincent's, St. Thomas, Hawaii, Aruba, and Arizona.  He also spent his free time watching NASCAR and sprint car races, the Cleveland Indians, playing cards, and spending time with his family.  

 

On October 13, 1951 he married Leota M. (Weishart) at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine.  She preceded him in death on November 11, 2011.

 

Surviving are their children: Margo Ann (Mike) Miller of Kettering, Ohio; Stanley (Wendee) Schneider of Fremont; Cheryl M. (Dean) Johnson of Temprance, Michigan; Lori J. (James) Atwood of Powell, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews survive.

 

In addition to his parents and his wife, Gene was preceded in death by his siblings: Esther Brandt; Urban Schneider; Lucille Schneider; Arnold Schneider; Alma Leis; Gerald Schneider; Eileen Wise; Anita Miller; Louis Schneider.

 

Graveside services will be held 10:30am Monday, July 8, 2019 at Bellevue St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Monroe Street, Bellevue.  Rev. Ed Schleter will officiate and military rites will be provided by the Bellevue and Clyde VFWs and American Legions and the Four County Marines. A luncheon will follow at Immaculate Conception Church.  Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue is honored to assist the family with arrangements.

 

Memorials may be given to the Sorrowful Mother Shrine or Stein Hospice.
