Evelyn Mae Sweet, 99, formerly of Orchard Grove, died at the Bellevue Care Center on Monday, October 2, 2017.

Evelyn was the only child born to Matthias G. and Lucy (Andrews) Sillman in Bellevue on February 22, 1918. She was a member of the Bellevue High School graduating class of 1936. She had been a beautician, then worked in the Bellevue City Schools Cafeteria and the former Schindley Flowers.

Mrs. Sweet was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ; the Althea Eastern Star and had been a Charter member of the Belltone Choir at Orchard Grove. She had been a member of a bridge club for over sixty years, having played up until August of this year. She was also a member of the Bellevue Elks. She and her late husband enjoyed dancing to the big band music.

On April 20, 1940, she married Joseph S. Sweet. He preceded her on August 2, 2007 after 67 years of marriage.

Survivors include her son, Robert (Joan) Sweet of Bellevue; her daughter, Joelyn (David) Moore of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jill (Jeff) Garton; Maggie (Nathan) Rickel; Marie Ford; Carlos Corona and Kelly Kalmbach. Also five great grandchildren, Jake; Malaina; Macy; Liam and Monica.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 10:00 am until the service at Noon at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Kilbourne St., Bellevue with the Rev. Dr. Diane Carter officiating.

Burial will be in Strongs Ridge Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ.
