Iva Joyce (Ellison) Halsey

Iva Joyce Halsey, 83, of Bellevue, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Bellevue Care Center.

She was born July 22, 1934 in Ittman, West Virginia to Bernice (Cook) and Chester A. Ellison, Sr.  She graduated from Mullins High School in West Virginia.  Mrs. Halsey was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Bellevue, where she was active in the Women's Guilds and taught Sunday School.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

On September 7, 1963 she married John Thomas "Red" Halsey in Mullins, West Virginia.  He preceded her in death on July 10, 2004. 

Mrs. Halsey is survived by her son, John T. (Lori) Halsey, Jr. of Bellevue; granddaughters, Jordan and Hannah Halsey; half-brother, Haden (Carol) Ellison of Oak Hill, West Virginia; special niece, Debbie Stewart of Monroeville; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Halsey was preceded in death by her siblings: Iris Cook, Ina Cook, Chester Arthur Ellison, Jr., and Elma Moran.

Visitation will be 9-11am Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Auxter Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue.  Her funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Duffy officiating.  Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
