James J. Steinbauer, 79, of Clyde, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Eden Springs Nursing Home, Green Springs.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 4, 1938 to Robert E. and Coletta (Toeppe) Steinbauer.
Jim graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1957.
He married Marian Walby on April 11, 1964 at Sacred Heart Church.
Jim was part owner of R.E. Steinbauer & Sons Farm in Clyde, where he worked for over sixty years. He worked as the market manager for many years and ran a bakery inside the market for seven years. He loved baking pies, fruit breads and cookies.
When the farm closed in 1999, he continued working at the Bellevue Parts Company for 71/2 years, retiring in 2008.
He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Clyde, volunteering for many years in events, such as, Festival Chairman and kitchen manager for various parish events. Also, he was a member of the Fremont Knights of Columbus Council #591.
Jim loved gardening, flea markets, church festivals, western tv shows and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Steinbauer is survived by his loving wife of fifty four years, Marian, daughters; Denice (Doug) Klask; Connie (Doug) Baker all of Clyde and Mindy (Luke) Collette of Toledo. Grandchildren, Monique, Clarissa, Nathan, Karina, Adrian; great grandchildren, Olivia, Morganne and Aria, along with his sister, Coletta Miller of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Robert, Carl, Richard, John and Thomas Steinbauer.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 30, from 3-7:00 ppm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. The funeral mass, with Father Joseph Steinbauer will be 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Vine Street, Clyde followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery.
