John G. Beckman

John Gerald Beckman,67, of Republic, died at his home on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

John was born in Bellevue on June 12, 1950 to Jesse and Edith (Tom) Beckman. He was a member of the 1968 graduating class of Thompson High School.

Mr. Beckman was a member and past president of the Old Fort Young Farmers; the Republic Lions; and the Seneca East Athletic Boosters. He had also been a coach for the Republic Youth Baseball Program.

He was a life long farmer. Prior to farming full time, John had worked at the former Fremont White in Fremont.

On April 2, 1971, he married Christine Harrison. She survives, along with their three children, Cassandra Beckman of Toledo; Matthew Beckman or Republic and Joshua (Erika) Beckman of Republic. Four grandchildren, Madelyne, Jesse, Andra and Erin survive as well.

John enjoyed playing golf and spending time with this family. He was excited to attend track meets to cheer on the grandchildren.

He and Chris had been able to spend time traveling, even able to visit all fifty states.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Diane Kilgore and Mary Ann Beckman.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 3:00 pm until the memorial service at 7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio.
