Kathleen G. Giffen, 97, of Clyde, died with her daughter, Peg, at her side at Countryside Manor in Fremont on Monday, December 31, 2018.
Kathleen was born in Fremont on June 30, 1921, to Amos and Margaret (Moran) Gnepper.
Mrs. Giffen attended Ross High School until her Junior year, then graduated from Clyde High School. She attended Rio Grande college for one year.
On February 14, 1942, she married Glen James Giffen. She went BGSU in 1968. Following graduation, she taught school for Clyde-Green Springs Schools until retirement.
She was a member of Sandusky County Retired Teachers, having served as President of this organization. Also a member of the former Progress Club and Garden Club, both of Clyde. She was a member of the Clyde Heritage League and the Clyde Library Book Reading Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret "Peg" Giffen and Peg's husband, Jeffry Rogers of San Antonio, Texas. One brother Gerald (KayAnn) Gnepper of Fremont and two sisters, Roberta Kellog of Clyde and Esther Hartley. .
Mrs. Giffen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 16, 1999 and her siblings, Charles Gnepper, James Gnepper, Nina Fleming, Robert Gnepper and Mildred Mesnard.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 11:00 am until the service at noon at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio.
Memorials may be made to Back to the Wild in Castalia or Second Chance Sanctuary in Clyde.
