Larry O. Smith, 83, of Vickery, died Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Willows at Bellevue.
He was born June 23, 1934 in Sandusky County to Otto and Hildegard (Wasserman) Smith. Larry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. He graduated from York High School in 1952 and served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. He had worked at M & N Sohio, where he was known as 'Smitty'. He also was a postal carrier for 39 years, retiring in 1995. Larry was a lifelong country music fan and enjoyed NASCAR and anything automotive.
Survivors include his dear friend and significant other, Marcia Wiggins of Clyde; children: Duane Smith of Reynoldsburg; Gary Smith of Clyde; and Jeanette (Chris) Shay of Clyde; granddaughter, Katrina (Gordon) Bentley of Clyde; and his siblings: Kathleen Vickery of Bellevue; Elizabeth Growel of Huron; and Kenneth (Jane) Smith of Fremont; his in-laws: Robert Traunero of Tiffin; Janie Smith of Westlake.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn (Chuck) Keegan; Lois Jean Traunero; brother, Windsor Smith; and brothers-in-law: Marlin Vickery and Randall Growel.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main Street, Clyde. Additional visitation will be Noon-2:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. His funeral service will be Thursday, April 12 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Sister Regina Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Clyde American Legion and VFW.
