It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence H. Knehr, age 77, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Larry was born in Sandusky on December 30, 1940 to the now deceased Sydney and Marguerite (Powers) Knehr. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic School in Sandusky.
He had retired from Stowe Woodward after having worked for the former Hinde & Dauch.
Mr. Knehr was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Clyde; Local 393-Region 2B, where he had once served as President. He was a generous blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Larry enjoyed the outdoors, working in his vegetable and flower gardens along with fishing from his self-restored 23' 1959 Lyman. His love for refinishing furniture for his family is well known. However, he was the happiest when he was with his family.
On October 17, 1964, he married Lucille J. (Koenig) Knehr. She survives, along with their four sons, Lawrence J. (Suzanne) Knehr of Rossford; Michael (Anita) Knehr of Pittsburgh; James (Robin) Knehr of Clyde and Mark (Sarah) Knehr of Toledo. Ten grandchildren, Grace, Josh, Rebekkah, Tyler, Madeline, Jacob, Ethan, Andrew, Olivia and Emmeline also survive, in addition, brother-in-law, Frank Younger of Hays, Kansas and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Knehr was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Younger; nephew, Gary Younger; special cousin, Sally Kirk along with other relatives.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 10:00 am until noon at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral mass will be on Thursday, December 13, at 12:15 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, 615 Vine St, Clyde with Rev. David Tscherne, Mrs. Knehr's cousin, officiating. Burial will be St. Mary Cemetery, Clyde, directly adjacent to the parish. Immediately following the committal services at the cemetery, a luncheon will be held in the church parish hall.
