Myrtle Arlene Baker, 87, of Clyde, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Bellevue Hospital.

The youngest of 10 children, she was born on March 2, 1930 in Bellevue, Ohio to Charles and Myrtle (Wilt) Weller, Sr.

Arlene was a graduate of Clyde High School Class of 1948. On June 17, 1950, she married Garold Baker and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2011. Arlene retired from Clyde-Green Springs Schools in 1992 as the Cafeteria Manager of South Main Elementary School.

As an active member of Clyde Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for over 75 years, she service her church in many ways including Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Youth Group Leader, Choir Member, and was very active in the Christian Women's Fellowship. She also was a member of the HiLo Card Club and Clyde Eagle's Auxiliary.

Arlene is survived by her two sons, Tim Baker of Castalia and Todd (Tammy) Baker of Clyde; daughter, Vicki (Ronald) Newsom also of Clyde. Grandchildren surviving include Charity (Jerry) Castle, Adam (Christine) Newsom and Riley Baker of Clyde and Shelby Baker of Akron; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Chase Castle of Clyde; sister-in-law Olive Weller of Bellevue and sister-in-law Iva Baker of Fremont. Former daughter-in-law, Cris Cattano of Sandusky also survives.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene is also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Merlin,Ivan, Vernon, Clinton, and Charles Weller, Jr.; four sisters, Evelyn Killian, Vivian Meyer, Mardelle Homan and Betty Rohlf.

Friend will be received on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 4-7pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. A funeral service will begin on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Clyde Christian Church at 10:30 AM. Memorials may be made to Clyde Christian Church or Stein Hospice.
