Mariellen C. Golembiowski, 91, of Clyde, died at The Willows in Bellevue on Saturday, June 1, 2019.
Mrs. "G" was born in Cleveland on February 12, 1928 to the now deceased Homer and Ethel (Rupple) Chappell.
She was a 1946 graduate of Collinwood High School in Cleveland and a 1950 graduate of Maryland College for Women in Lutherville, Maryland. She received her teaching certificate from Bowling Green University.
Mrs. "G" did her student teaching at York High School in 1950, then began her 35 year teaching career at Clyde High School in the fall of 1950. She was "influencing" the lives of students in her classroom of Business and being, every other year, the sponsor of the Senior Class until her 1985 retirement.
Mariellen was a Heritage member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde; a member of the Sandusky County Retired Teachers; member of the former Progress Club.
She enjoyed traveling, spending winters in her Lake Havasu home; the many summers at the family cottage on the shore of Lake Erie in Madison Lake, Ohio. Her free time was spent cooking, knitting and gardening.
On July 2, 1954, she marred John Golembiowski. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1997.
Their son, John (Joni) Golembiowski of Clarkston, Michigan survives, as does her granddaughter, Amy Golembiowski of Royal Oak and step granddaughter, Kelly (Scott) Cherwinski of Shelby Twp., Michigan, and three step great grandsons, Zakgary, Nathan and Jacksen all of Michigan.
Mrs. "G" was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon and her sister, Donna Frey.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 2-6:00 pm at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Race Street with Rev. Sheryl Seitz officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.
