Mary Douglas (Morrison) Frey

Mary Douglas (Morrison) Frey, 98, formerly of Clyde, died on Friday, May 18, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, where she had live since September 2017.

She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on December 29, 1919 to Robert and Marion (Young) Morrison.

Mary served in the British Women's Army until her marriage on June 3, 1944 to Dale W. Frey of Clyde, who was stationed with her in Norwich, England with the US Army. They honeymoon was shortened when he was called back to active duty on June 4, 1944, prior to the Normandy Invasion on June 6.

Mary left Scotland in 1946, at the end of WWII with their elder daughter and joined her husband, making their residence in Clyde, Ohio for many years.

In 1981, after being a resident of Ohio for 35 years, she became a US Citizen. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont and the Daughters of the British Empire.

Mrs. Frey was a cook at the former Elisa Ramsey Home for Women in in Clyde for a number of years.

Survivors include, two daughters, Marion (Tom) Bower of Fremont; Darlene Wojdyla of Fremont and a son, Eric Frey of Clyde. Her daughter- in- law, Dawn Tea Frey survives in Clyde. She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs Frey was preceded in death by her husband on May 8, 1998, two sons, Walter Frey and Donnie Frey and a granddaughter, Staci (Bower) Billings, as well as a son- in-law, Joe Wojdyla.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 4-8:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home, following an hour of visitation. The Rev. Jody Rice will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
