Melverna "Mickey" Mae Auxter,96, of Clyde, died at Valleyview Health Care of Fremont, on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
Mickey was born in Old Fort, Ohio on January 7, 1922 to George Howard and Mae Estella (Blue) Smith.
She was a 1940 graduate of Old Fort High School.
Prior to and during WWII, she was an operator for the former Ohio Bell system. Then she assisted her husband, Walter, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.
Mrs. Auxter was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde and the American Legion Auxiliary of Clyde. Formerly she was a member of the Choir Circle at church; and had been the treasurer of the Clyde Music Boosters, along with being a member of the Mother's Club.
On August 5, 1945, she married Walter E. Auxter, He survives, along with three children, Diane (John) Avers; Dean (Melinda) Auxter; and Daniel (Karen) Auxter, all of Clyde. Five grandchildren, Hannah (James) Mapus; Meredith (Casey) Filas: Eric (Emily) Avers; Andrea Avers (Elias) Pschernig and Adam Auxter as well as four great grandchildren, Claire and Brynn Mapus and Lyla and Macy Avers, all survive. Two sisters-in-law survive Ruth Smith of Republic and Inez Smith of Fremont .
Preceding her death were her parents, a granddaughter, Haley Auxter; three sisters: Marie Sommers, Thelma Miller and Georgia Divine, and two brothers, Ray Smith and Calvin Smith.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 3-5:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:30 Am at the funeral home. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.
