Melvin Glenn Goon

Melvin Glenn Goon, 76, of Clyde, died on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky.

Mel was born in Lexington, Ohio to Glenn Melvin and Delores Marie (Haught) Goon on January 12, 1942.

Mr. Goon retired in 2008 from Whitta Construction in Fostoria. He was a member of the Clyde Eagles and Moose.

On January 27, 2006, he married Cindy (Halstead) Bailey Stevens, she survives. Also surviving are his three children, Tina (Allen) Brickner of Florida; Wesley (Evelyn Wilhems) Goon of Rising Sun, Ohio; and Melvin, Jr. (Penelope) Goon of Georgia, and Cindy's children, Susan Peak of Fremont; Linda (Kelly) Lasch of Collins; and Jason Bailey, Clyde. Also his step-children, Leon "Lee" (Pam) Sumner of Clyde; Christine Sumner of Fremont; Kandy Sumner of Fremont; Gail (Mike) Nobles of Marysville; Lonnie Joe Sumner of Delta; Larry (Dawn) Sumner of Clyde; Robin (David) Scheck of Sebring, Florida and Lana (Ben) Laurendeau of Avon, Ohio. Three grandchildren, Corbin (Joni) Smith; Allen (Heather) Smith and Justin Comway survive as well. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren of Gloria survive, along with grandchildren, including Kelsey Lasch, of Cindy's are among Mel's survivors. His half siblings, Ken (Brenda) Goon of Clyde; Wanda Schroth of Port Clinton; Robin (Kurt) Starkey of Pemberville and Sue (Jeff) Atling of Oak Harbor, and his sister-in-law, Susan Goon of Elmore survive, too.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 28 years, Gloria Carter Goon on February 10, 2004, and his brother, Leland Goon on October 3, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at The Church of God, South Main St., Clyde, Ohio with Pastor Gene Paul officiating.
