Regina Ruth Smith, 87, a life-long resident of Clyde, died on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Bellevue Hospital.
Regina was born at the family home in Clyde on March 4, 1932 to the now deceased Byron and Bernice (Dagg) Thurn. She was a member of the 1950 York High School graduating class.
On July 28, 1951, she married Ralph Smith. He preceded her on March 2, 2011.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde where she had been the organist for many years, prior to her 1993 retirement. She also accompanied the Children's Choir at the church for many years. She was a member of the Knifty Knitters of Clyde. She was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Dallas Cowboys. Regina watched the Little League World Series with great enjoyment, along with the Women's World Series.
Surviving are three sons, Charles (Irene) Smith of Plainwell, Michigan; Michael Smith and Thomas (Vickie) Smith all of Clyde. Four grandchildren, Brad; Beth; Derrick and Christina Smith, as well as two sisters, Margaret (Herb) Bouyack of Clyde and Rosalie Moyer of Bloomville also survive. Her aunt, Mary Coleman survives in Fremont.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Smith and her brother, Ed Thurn, Sr.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 2-5:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde with Rev. Kurt Luebkeman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
