Robert Dale Elder was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 1, 1936; the son of Dale K. and Frances Smith Elder. He attended Thompson High School in Fireside, grades 7-12, graduating in 1954. Bob was a music major at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.  He worked at Edwards Clothing store for one year before joining the staff at Union Bank & Savings in 1957.  He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1962 with a rank of SP4. He returned to Bellevue and Union Bank as Assistant Teller, until retiring at age 70.

He lived on a farm for several years in Fireside, then built a new home in rural Monroeville. In 2008 he moved to Norwalk where he resided until two years ago when he moved to The Willows at Bellevue. The family would like to thank The Willows staff for their wonderful caregiving to Bob as well as to Stein Hospice at Sandusky for their care over the last month. 
Bob was a member of Fireside United Church of Christ for 65 years. He was also a former member of Bellevue Kiwanis Club. 

He is survived by brothers, Jim (Ruthann) and Mike (Jan) of San Jose, CA and sisters, Kay Koroluck (Daryl) of Riverside, CA and Barbara (Carl) Thompson of Yorba Linda, CA, sister-in-law, Carol Elder of Pittsburgh, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Dale "Pat" and his parents. 

Auxter Funeral Home at Bellevue will assist in burial arrangements. Calling hours will be at Auxter Thursday, March 2 from 3-6:00pm. His funeral service will be at Zion UCC, Fireside at 11:00 am on Friday, March 3 with visitation at 10:00 am. Burial at Bellevue City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, Bob has requested donations be made to Fireside UCC Music Fund.
