Sunrise was October 23, 1946 and sunset February 7, 2019. He passed away of natural causes at age 72 after residing in Clyde his entire life in the family home. He was a graduate of St. Francis College in Pennsylvania with a degree in philosophy. Roger spent many years as a 5th grade science teacher at Holy Angels School in Sandusky. He, especially, enjoyed their many experiments. His career path led him to investment advisement specializing in retirees. Roger was a man of many interest and hobbies. He found delight in photography and flying his own Cessna aircraft as well as being a flight instructor for several years. Changing interests caused him to replace the plane with a 40-foot cruiser which was named Roman Candle for his love of fireworks. The boat was in turn traded for a near classic Rolls Royce. His long-time interest was shooting at a local gun club range and duck hunting. He was a member of Tricounty Gun Club, Eagles, and AOPA among others. Roger is survived by brother, Lawrence and sister, Carol Maley. He was preceded in death by parents Edwin and Mary Whittaker. Roger now has a new set of wings.
The Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde with Father Ed Schleter officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Clyde.
