Ronald I. Boonie, 75, of Clyde, died at Promedica Hospital on Sunday, September 15, 2019, following an illness of several months.
Ron was born in Bellevue on March 24, 1944 to the now deceased Oscar and Evelyn (McKenzie) Boonie.
He worked as a crane operator for Whirlpool in Clyde for 40 years, retiring in 2004.
Mr. Boonie was a member of Grace Community Church, the Clyde Eagles and Moose. For twenty-six years he was a Clyde Fireman.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR.
On June 26, 1965, he married Jacqueline Sampsel. She, along with their children, Lisa (Frank) Franco; Michael (Nikki) Boonie and Paul (Tracy) Boonie all of Clyde survive. Nine grandchildren, Bethanie (Tony) Taylor; Jordyn (Zak) Boonie; Jonathan (Morgan) Hill; Samantha Hill; Nicholas (Shannon) Hill; Seth (Olivia) Boonie; Brianna Boonie; Ronnie Boonie and Frankie (Jamie) Franco. Six great grandchildren, along with two sisters, Judy Preece of Sterling Colorado and Kathleen Sanchez of Iliff , Colorado survive as well. His furry companion, Riley survives, too.
Ron was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Peters.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 3-6:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Grace Community Church with burial in McPherson Cemetery.
The Orphanage Fund at Grace Community Church is where the family requests memorials, if desired, be given.
