Theodore C. "Ted" Buck, 86, of Bellevue, died Sunday, May 13, 2018 in his home.
He was born May 17, 1931 in Bellevue to Walter J. and Estella (Haas) Buck. Ted was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1949 and attended Miami University. He then went to serve our country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a hospital corpsman and served on the USS Iowa.
After his service in the Navy, Ted became a clerk for the railroad. He worked there 38 years, until his retirement. In his retirement, Ted enjoyed refinishing furniture and tending to his roses. He was a member of Mad River Railroad Museum and NARVRE. Over the years, he was very active in his church, serving in many positions; most notably he was the Sunday School treasurer and the church treasurer for 30 years.
On June 16, 1957 he married Marlene (Scheid) and she survives in Bellevue. Also surviving are their sons, David (Susan) Buck of Centerville and Douglas (Peggy) Buck of Lewis Center; grandsons: Matthew (Christine) Buck; Christopher (Chelsea) Buck; Daniel Buck; great-grandson: Aaron Buck; and his brother, Robert (Suzanne) Buck of Denver.
Visitation will be 3:00-6:00pm Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Auxter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue. His funeral service will be 10:30am Friday, May 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St, Bellevue with Rev. Scott Mauch officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue City Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Bellevue VFW, American Legion, and Marine Corps League.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Property Committee; St. John's Christian Preschool; or the donor's favorite charity.
