Thomas Elmer Bard, 89, of Vickery, died at The Gardens at Clyde, on Sunday, May 20, 2018.
Tom was born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1929. He was the youngest child of Russel and Mary (Harper) Bard.
He attended Newton Hamilton High School in Pa.
Mr. Bard was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery and a lifetime member of the VFW in Arcanum, Ohio.
He retired form Plum Brook, where he was a reactor operator. He was a life long farmer and had worked at Wright Patterson prior to coming the area in 1960.
Mr. Bard was a veteran of the Army Air Corps,
On June 8, 1951, he married Grace Snyder. She preceded him on March 27, 2002.
Surviving are their five sons, David Bard of Fremont; Daniel (Karen) Bard of Vickery; Samuel Bard (Kevan Moat) of Clyde; James Bard of Vickery and Thomas R.. Bard of Norwalk. Eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Russel Edward Bard, James Bard and sister Fae Ross.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:30 am following an hour of visitation, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeanette Thorp officiating. Burial, with military honors, provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion, will be at Parkhurst Cemetery.
