Walter L. Meggitt, 84, of Clyde, died at The Willows of Bellevue on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
Walt was born in Sandusky County on February 16, 1934 to Lewis Neil and Mary Marie (Jenkins) Meggitt. He was a 1952 graduate of Clyde High School.
Mr. Meggitt had been a member of the former East Side Baptist Church, Fremont. He had owned the former Meggitt Appliance Store and Walter Meggitt Realty.
On June 26, 1955, he married Iris Jean Armentrout. She preceded him in death on June 18, 2015
After Jean's death, Walt was the "Self Appointed" organizer of activities at their Villas at the Willows. These activities included card playing, cornhole and bingo.
Survivors include five children, Joyce (Mark) Overfield of Clyde; Christopher (Laurie) Meggitt of Mt. Gilead; Jeffry (Martha) Meggitt of Tiffin; Timothy (Jennifer) Meggitt of Clyde and Brian (Joan) Meggitt of Cleveland. Fifteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Meggitt was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lewis Meggitt, Roy Meggitt and Harry Meggitt and one sister, LuAnn Berry.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 11, 2018 from Noon until the service at 1:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Clyde Food Pantry.
