Angelina Hernandez

Angelina Hernandez, 90, of Clyde, died Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Bellevue Hospital. 

She was born October 27, 1932 in Waelder, Texas to Encarnacion and Simona (Martinez) Hernandez.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont.  She enjoyed being a caretaker and nurse’s aide, spending 16 years working at Eshelman’s Nursing Home. In their spare time, she and her husband loved to go to Mexican dances.  Angelina was blessed with a green thumb and always enjoyed flowers.  More than anything, she loved caring for her family – cooking, hugs, kisses – anything to show her love for her family. 

On December 14, 1950 she married Rafael Hernandez; he survives in Clyde.  Together, they celebrated over 72 years of marriage. 

Other survivors include her children: Ray (Sherry) Hernandez of Fremont; Bob (Char) Hernandez of Clyde; Benita (Bob) Blackburn of Clyde; Maggie (Doug) McCauley of Clyde; Lucy (Dean) Fultz of Clyde; Lena (Mike) Wood of Fremont; Ruben (Nancy) Hernandez of Clyde; Artie (Connie) Hernandez of Fremont; 28 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; her siblings: Mando Rodriguez; Lupe Sanchez; Susie (Jack) Garn; Jose (Brenda) Hernandez; all of Fostoria; and her sister-friend, Lupe Garcia of Clyde.

In addition to her parents, Angelina was preceded in death by her siblings: Chonito Hernandez; Mere Capetillo; Juanita Avila; Anita Navarro; Ramona Sanchez; Ysidro Hernandez.

Her funeral mass will be 11:30am Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Road, Fremont, Ohio 43420.  Rev. Krzysztof Kardzis will officiate and burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.  After the burial, a funeral luncheon will be served at Victory Church, 2051 Old Oak Harbor Road, Fremont.  Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Clyde is assisting the family with arrangements.
