Benedetto "Ben" Fontana

Benedetto "Ben" Fontana, 54, of Bellevue, died at Promedica Hospital of Toledo on Monday, July 27, 2020.

Ben was born in S Agata di Militello, Sicily on May 20, 1966 to the now deceased Carmelo and Angela (Faraci) Fontana.

He was the owner and operator of Fontana's Italian eatery in Bellevue. Ben was a member of the 1984 Bellevue High School class.

On June 18, 1988, he married Brenda Back. She, along with their three children, Benny Fontana, Bridget Fontana and Bailee Fontana, all of Bellevue survive.

Also surviving are his three sisters, Maria (Calogero) Piscitello of Cleveland; Pina (Charlie) Cochey of Bellevue and Linda (Todd) Auvil of Lorain. His mother and father-in-law, James and Dorothy Back of Jeannette, Pa; three brothers-in-law, William (Valarie) Back; Bruce (Dee) Back and Matthew ( Chris) Back, as well as nieces and nephews; Steve (Nicole); Chris (Lauren);Liz; Tim; Jason(Lindsey);Angela: McKenzie; Dawson; Ross; Ryan; Amber (Andrew); Chris (Jen); Brittni (Ian) and Brianna; great nieces and nephews, Rocco; Luca; Charlie; Gianni; Easton; Olivia; Harrison: Griffin; Octavia; Diana; Clark; Rylee; and Damian are among his survivors.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Biagio Fontana on July 8, 2020.

A walk through visitation, wearing masks and practicing social distancing, will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 5-8:00 pm at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Ben's funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:00 am, with Rev. Kyle Gase officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Bellevue.
