Betty Wagner Wiedle, 80, of Clyde, died at Valleyview Nursing Home, Fremont on Sunday, December 10.2023.
Betty was born in Fremont on January 27,1943 to the now deceased Marie (Dalton) and Nicholas "Nick" Wagner.
A graduate of Fremont Ross High School, she was also a member of Vickery United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wiedle loved cattle! She had loved her first job at the former Erlin Elevator, later Rural Serve.
In the words of one of her granddaughters: " Farm raised, community minded, devoted to those she loved and those who loved her, Betty demonstrated enthusiasm for her tireless work on behalf of our community.
Generations grew climbing up on those feed gabs at the Erlin Elevator to hoist themselves up to lean on the counter and be seen (often coming away with a candy bar to boot) - Betty treated us all with familiarity and told us what we needed to know. She wasn't just a lover of cattle and the farm life, she was a warrior, continuing to show up and press into a way of living that mattered. She wasn't shy about working hard or indulging in things that brought her or her people joy and satisfaction. Betty was always prepared for everything, except I think, the loss or my Grandpa. But she kept him with her always, just like we'll keep her."
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Merril "Skinny" Wiedle; and a brother, Nick Wagner III.
Survivors include Skinny's children, Mary Hamilton, Hank Wiedle, Kathy Nuss and Chris Wiedle, along with three brothers, William (Polly) Wagner; Robert (Sandy) Wagner and Wayne (Gloria) Wagner. NIne grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and eleven nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews survive.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 13,2023 from 11:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The burial will follow at Parkhurst Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Sandusky County Fair Beef Barn, 901 Rawson Ave., Fremont, Ohio 43420.
