Clara Mae (Reed) Recktenwald

Clara M. Recktenwald, 96, of Bellevue, died Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Stein Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

 

She was born November 12, 1923 in Attica to Randolph & Bernice (Williams) Reed.  Clara was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue.  She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1941 and had worked at the Sandusky County Courts and Fremont City Schools over the years.  She married Ralph Recktenwald in June 1971.  Clara loved playing euchre and pinochle, especially with her friends at Four-County Young at Heart in Bellevue.  She enjoyed watching the Buckeyes, Indians, and Cavs and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

 

She is survived by her sons: Eugene (Janet) Woodruff of Charleston, Illinois and Gary (Evelyn) Woodruff of Bellevue; grandchildren: John (Lori) Woodruff; Sherri (Dave) Wilhelm; Lisa (Tim) Forsythe; Scott (Emily) Woodruff; Reid (Amy) Woodruff; Tara (Dave) Weithman; Kyle Woodruff; and ten great-grandchildren.

 

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph Recktenwald in 2005; and her great-grandson, Samuel Weithman.

 

Visitation will be 4-6:00pm Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Auxter Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue. Her funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday, December 11 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St, Bellevue with Rev. Mark Bogen officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.

 

Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church; Four County Young at Heart; or Stein Hospice.
