On May 31, 1952, he married Evelyn A. Hintz. She preceded him in death on April 4,2016.

Three children, Deborah (Edward) Miracle of Lowell, Indiana; Scott (Kim) Baker of Florida and Timothy (Annette) Baker of Clyde survive. Eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Dave) McNary, Heather (Darrell) Sample; Nick Baker, Mike Baker; Amy Hatcher, Sara (Justin) Boatman, Kayleigh Baker and Kelsey (Bryce) McConnell survive, along with nineteen great grandchildren.
