Donald Ray Smith, 78, of Clyde, died at The Willows of Bellevue on Wednesday, July 27,2022.
Don was born in Fremont on October 2, 1943 to the now deceased Juanita (Thorpe) and Glenn Smith. He was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Clyde High School.
For over 52 years, he worked at the Whirlpool Corp in Clyde as a millwright. Also, for forty-one years, he was a member of the Clyde Fire Department, prior to his retirement from the department. He was still a member of the Clyde Firemen Association.
Survivors include children, Cynthia (Bill) Selvey of Clyde; Corrine “Corky” (Todd) Lamson of Green Springs; Carin (Mike) Oberdorf of Green Springs; Brenda (Jim) Sieger of Clyde and Mark (Tina) Dencer of Clyde. Nine grandchildren, Zak, Jocelyn, Ben, Cayden, Blake, Brylee, Kati, Mark, Jr., and Coy, along with great grandchildren. Two brothers, Merrill (Glenda) Smith of Fremont and Jim (Terry) Smith of Clyde survive as well.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Sue (Taylor) Smith, whom he married on October 16,1976, on January 30,2019. Also his sister, Lois Nolan is deceased.
Private family graveside services will be held at Bakertown Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital, Toledo, Ohio.
