Donald Joseph West

Donald Joseph West, 83, of Bellevue, died at The Willows of Bellevue on Monday, December 27, 2021. 

Mr. West was born on March 16,1938, the third child of the now deceased Gladys (Kramer) and Clifton West in Toledo, Ohio. 

He was a 1956 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Then graduating from the University of Toledo in 1960 with a Bachelor's in education. Later, earning a master's and Specialist in Education degree. He was a principal in Seneca East from 1973-1978 and serving with the Bellevue Schools as principal until retirement in 1998. After retirement he was a residential tax assessment person and then finally a sub for the Margaretta Schools.

Don was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue, along with the Rolls Royce Owners Club of Ohio. Since 1978, he was a member of the Bellevue Lions, where he had served as secretary, President; Zone Chairman and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.  Also, Don was a member of the Bellevue Eagles.

On August 29, 1964, he married Ann L. Corbin. She, along with their four children, LeeAnn Hager of Sandusky; Kevin Patrick (Tricia) West of Bellevue; Brian Joseph West of Orange, California and Christopher Paul (Chandalar) West of Findlay survive. Five grandchildren, Amanda; Sean; Emily; Cashel and Connelly, along with five great grandchildren also survive. Ann's siblings, Patricia Bastic of Appleton, Wisconsin and Terry Corbin of Minneapolis, Minnesota survive as well.

Mr. West was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond West and sister, Virginia Kirian.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 29,2021 form 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm with Lion Services at 6:30 pm at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, December 30,2021 with Rev. Kyle Gase officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bellevue.  The family asks unvaccinated attendees wear masks at all services.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Bellevue Lions Club or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
