Donald "Don" J. Zieber

Donald J. Zieber passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at his home following a brief illness.

Don was born January 28, 1950 to Margaret (Keller) and Jerald J. Zieber. He was raised on the family farm.

Don was a proud member of the class of ’68, the final graduating class of the former Thompson High School.

He continued his education at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1972 with a degree in Agricultural Economics.

Following graduation, Don returned to the farm, joining the family business, Zieber Egg Farm and later ZZZ Pork.

The farm was his lifelong passion!

He concluded his working career as a meat inspector with the State of Ohio Department of Agriculture.

Don was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue. He served on the Board of Directors of the former Bellevue Farmers CoOp, as a Seneca County Poll worker in Thompson Township and as a volunteer at Fish & Loaves.

 He was a kind man, who put others ahead of himself.

Don valued his friends from the farm operation, meat inspection and especially his life long friends from Thompson and OSU.

Mr. Zieber loved watching storms, movies and adventure outings with the grandkids, Black Friday shopping and OSU football!

Don is survived by his wife, Jean, whom he married on April 19, 1974 at St. Michael Church.

Also left to cherish his memory are children, Laura and Greg, grandchildren, Andrew, Brendan, Cami and Tyler, and five great grandchildren 

 Other survivors include his siblings, Ted (Debbie) Zieber of Mansfield, Paul Zieber of Columbus and Ann (Nelson) Wright of Bellevue .

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Zieber on October 5, 2023 and sister and brother-in-law, Mary & Rob Moffit.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 2-5:00pm with rosary at 1:30 pm at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue, Ohio. The funeral mass will be on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Friends & family are invited to a luncheon and fellowship at ICC basement following the committal.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made, if desired to Stein Hospice of Western Reserve or the Cancer Services of Sandusky or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The Zieber family extends sincere thanks to the doctor, nurses and aides who were “angels” at our time of need.
