Dorothy Jean (Barnett) Townsend

Dorothy Jean Townsend, 84, of Bellevue, died at the Bellevue Care Center on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Mrs. Townsend was born in Loretto, Tennessee to the now deceased Tera (Sims) and Walter Barnett. 

After graduating from high school, she moved to Bellevue, Ohio. 

She had been a care giver for individuals in their homes prior to retirement.

Mrs. Townsend was a very accomplished bowler, receiving numerous trophies for her efforts.

On June 4, 1955, she married Thurman Townsend. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1991.

Survivors include two children, Donald Townsend and Donna Clark, both of Bellevue. Also, nine grandchildren, Thrane Townsend, Tyler Townsend; Tera Ungerer; Kristy Ungerer, Holly Martin, Nicholas Martin, Joshua Russell, Sara Hade; and Rachel Cantrell. Two brothers, Jim Barnett of Florida and Charles Barnett of Sandusky survive as well.

Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter, Rochelle Russell and a son, Chris Townsend, a granddaughter, Jessie Roeser and six siblings; Deannie Whaley, Dezzie Cox, Walter Barnett, Jr. Martha Rohrbacher, Barbara Miller and Michael McDonnell.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 11, 2024 from noon until the service at 1:30 pm at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue, Ohio. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
