Obituary

Edward A. Hartzell,89,  formerly of Bellevue, more recently of Findlay, died at Birchaven Assisted Living in Findlay on Friday, March 17, 2023.

Ed was born in Bellevue on June 15, 1933 to Thelma (Swartz) and Willard Hartzell. 

Mr. Hartzell was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue, along with St. Michael Catholic Church in Findlay. Also, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and formerly the Bellevue Eagles. Always one to enjoy the outdoors, Ed liked to hunt and fish.

Ed was a member of the 1952 graduating class of Bellevue High School, along with being a Co-Captain of the 1951 NOL Bellevue Football Champion Team.

He had retired from the clerk department of the N&S Railroad.

On August 23, 1952, he married Rita Herman. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2017.

Their children, Edward (Kaye) Hartzell of Cincinnati; Roger (Debbie) Hartzell of Holmes Beach Florida; James (Paula) Hartzell of Bellevue and Karen (Robert) Frederick of Findlay survive. Nine grandchildren, Natalie, Andrea; Rob, Jennifer; Sarah, Rebecca, Matthew; Roger and Raquel also survive.

Mr. Hartzell was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Hartzell. His brother, Charles Hartzell and sister, Ruth Long are also deceased. His faithful companion, Charlie, also preceded him.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Bridge Hospice or the Kidney Foundation.
