Eilene Perry Obituary

Eilene Perry, 93, of rural Clyde, died in Bradenton, Florida on Saturday, March, 14,2020.

Eilene passed away in Bradenton, Florida while spending the winter there. She was born to Arthur
Krueger and Elsie (Eisenhour) Krueger in Townsend Township.
She was a graduate of Margaretta High School and married Tom Perry on September 30 th , 1945.
They lived at their home in rural Riley Township for 54 years before his passing in 1998, raising four
children.
In 1959, Eilene enrolled at Bowling Green State University and began taking classes at the Fremont
branch. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1969. Many times she earned better
grades than her children which she occasionally pointed out to them. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of
becoming a teacher by teaching third grade and then first grade in the Fremont City School system.
She taught 25 years, first at Riley Elementary and then at Otis Elementary. She loved attending
retired teacher luncheons.
Eilene loved to travel. She and Tom traveled to most of the United States, Canada, Mexico and
several times to Europe. She also loved growing roses and spent many happy hours in the rose
garden. Eilene was also an avid reader with an extensive library.
After her retirement, she was a volunteer at Golden Threads in Fremont and assisted people with
insurance claims. One of her true joys in life was being a guide at the Hayes Home at the Hayes
Presidential Center for over 15 years. She was an early member and devotee of the Elder College at
Terra Community College.
Eilene and Tom were members of the Junquidendah Farm Bureau Council and enjoyed participating in
the monthly meetings and discussions. Eilene was an active member of the Clyde Methodist Church
for over 60 years.
She leaves a sons, Kris (Cathy) of Bradenton, Florida, Jeffrey of Clyde and Bradley (Lynn) of Omaha,
Nebraska and two grandchildren, Ben (Ava) Perry and Adrienne (Pat) Fay. There are three great
grandchildren, Maura Fay, Clare Fay and Armaity Perry.
Eilene is also survived by her sisters, Alice Steed, Medina, Ohio and Viola Ziegler, Bellevue, Ohio and
sister-in-law, Mary Ann Perry, Vickery, Ohio.
Daughter Ginger Joy preceded her in death.
Private family services are being held.
Memorials in Eilene's name may be made to the Hayes Presidential Center or to Terra Community
College's Tom and Eilene Perry Scholarship Fund.
