Elsie Hohenstein Obituary

Elsie M. Hohenstein, 80, died at the emergency room at Promedica Hospital in Fremont, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

Elsie was the fifth child born to Edna Mae (Hartley) and Paul "Manny" Musser. She was born on October 4, 1943.

In 1963, she graduated from Fremont Ross High School, having attended school at the former Riley School. Elsie was a long-time member of the First Missionary Church, Main St., Clyde.

On March 7, 1964, she married Ralph "Coach" Hohenstein. Coach, along with their three children, Robert (Susan) Hohenstein, Paul (Cheri) Hohenstein and Ann Blymyer, all of Clyde survive. Twelve grandchildren, Luke, Timmy, Steven, David, Ben; Jessilyn, Jeremy, Heidi, Jacob; Shelby, Clay, Courtney survive, as do twenty great grandchildren. Elsie's siblings, Beverly Christman, Barb (Paul) Smetzler ; Bonnie Karr all of Clyde; Jim Musser of Sandusky, Betty Bango of Clyde; Steven (Margaret) Musser of Fremont, Ken Musser of Clyde; Doug (Marcia) Musser of Clyde and Charlie Musser of Fremont also survive.

Mrs. Hohenstein was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Taylor Norman and a brother, Bob Musser. 

Elsie was first and foremost a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother! Her family was her world. She and Coach would be seen at all Clyde Flier sporting events sitting on the top row. Mrs. Hohenstein was a wonderful cook. Her membership in the Friday Coffee Club, which began as sisters watching their weight and morphed into the next two generations getting together for coffee and goodies!

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 11:00 am, with additional visitation for one hour prior to the services, at First Missionary Church, Main St., Clyde, Ohio, with the Rev. Jeff Martin officiating.

Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Coach and his family wants to thank Countryside Manor and hospice for the help and care Elsie received while under their care.

Memorials may be made to the First Missionary Church.
