Obituary

Gary R. Armstrong, 69, of Vickery, passed away suddenly Friday, December 30, 2022.
 
He was born September 29, 1953, in Camden and grew up in Pennsauken, New Jersey.
 
Gary retired from Okamoto-Sandusky in 2019 where he worked as their Safety Engineer. He
graduated from University of Dayton with an Industrial Engineering degree in 1976. Gary loved
and cherished his family, music, guitar, piano, gardening and his rescue dogs.
 
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Christie (Winningham); son, Evan and his wife, Marissa
(Sehman) of Traverse City, Michigan; mother, Gertrude Armstrong; siblings, Mike Armstrong,
Karen Armstrong, Dennis Armstrong; mother-in-law Willowdean Winningham, Sister-in-law
Shelly Gilbert and brother-in-law Dave Gilbert; along with nieces/nephews and great-
nieces/nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by daughter, Sierra Rose; father, Earl Armstrong, and father-in-law,
Carl Winningham,
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sandusky County Dog Warden in
Fremont (https://sanduskycountydogkennel.com/donate.php).
 
Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde is assisting family with the cremation, and a memorial service
that will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Gary’s ashes will later be
spread in Traverse City, Michigan, where he always wanted to live. Online condolences may be
