George L. Frederick, 89, of Bellevue died Monday, November 30, 2020 after a three year battle with cancer.
He was born February 6, 1931 in York Township to Reuben and Gladys (Rife) Frederick. He graduated from York High School in 1949. George served our country in the Ohio National Guard for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Bellevue Eagles.
On April 7, 1956 he married Marilyn Havice and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2016.
George is survived by his son, Steven (Laura) Frederick of Bellevue; grandsons: Cole Frederick of Clyde and Garett Frederick of Bellevue; and his siblings: Robert (Rosemary) Frederick of Sandusky; Lillian Yetter of Vickery; Lucy Garman of Sandusky; Virginia Stinson of Castalia; and Jim (Gail) Frederick of Bellevue.
In addition to his parents and his wife, George was preceded in death by his siblings: Barbara Elchert; Eleanor Osman; Karen Whitlach; and Charles Frederick, who was killed in VietNam in 1966.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:00pm Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Auxter Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue. His funeral service will be 2:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Justin Jump officiating and burial will follow in the Veteran's section of McPherson Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Bellevue VFW, American Legion, and Marine Corps League.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be mailed to First United Methodist Church, 901 Northwest St, Bellevue, Ohio 44811 OR Zion UCC Fireside for the Shut-in Ministry, 13525 E. Two Rd 178, Bellevue, Ohio 44811, who had been providing meals to George and other shut-ins in the area.
